Coming up on Wednesday 15 Nov 2023: Green transition in Arctic cities and municipalities
How are Arctic cities and municipalities working towards evidence-based policy-making?
On Wednesday 15 Nov, Arctic PASSION project and Arctic Mayors Forum are organizing a session on Green transition in Arctic cities and municipalities: transition that can be seen as an opportunity or as a source of concerns and tensions for northern regions and population.
The session's goal is to share stories and best practices from Arctic cities and their policies and collaboration with industries and science for local climate mitigation, to the Arctic community. As well as elaborate on how these stories contributed to developing and implementing plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We are hoping the situation with the wildfires in Canada will have calmed down by November so that we can welcome Ms. Alty, Mayor of Yellowknife, to our event.
Joining us for the discussion are
• Rebecca Alty - Mayor of Yellowknife, Canada
• Ulla-Kirsikka Vainio - Mayor of Rovaniemi, Finland
• Robert Barr - Deputy City Manager, Juneau City and Borough, USA
• Líf Magneudóttir - City Councilor, Reykjavik City, Iceland
• Daniel Smirat - Chairman of the Municipal Council, Lulea Municipality, Sweden
• Volker Rachold - Head, German Arctic Office, Arctic PASSION project
