Timo Koivurova is the director of the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland.
Research professor Timo Koivurova serves currently as the director of the Arctic Centre, which is a national and international hub of information and Centre of Excellence that conducts multidisciplinary research in changes in the Arctic region. As a researcher, he has specialized in various aspects of governance in the Arctic and the Antarctic region. Koivurova has led many international and national research projects and has been involved as an expert in several international processes globally and in the Arctic region. Koivurova is e.g. a member of the Board of Directors of the Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS) and is an executive committee member of the European Polar Board. He is also an editor-in-chief of the Yearbook of Polar Law.
