Florian Stammler is research professor for Arctic Anthropology and the coordinator of the anthropology research team at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, Finland.

Florian Stammler is research professor for Arctic Anthropology and the coordinator of the anthropology research team at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, Finland. He has worked and published extensively on the topics of extractive industries and indigenous peoples, human-animal relations in pastoralism, and Arctic oral history. Further he has been active as organiser and advisor of popular science TV programmes on Siberia (BBC, discovery, arte, France 2), in industry consultation. He is the author of ‘Reindeer Nomads Meet the Market’, the last account of Nenets reindeer nomadism before the advent of big gas industry to the Yamal Peninsula, West Siberia.
