David Hik

David Hik is a professor of Biological Sciences in University of Alberta.

David’s research interests are focused on the ecology and dynamics of Arctic and mountain environments, particularly the impacts of climate change and determinants of social-ecological resilience. He previously held the Canada Research Chair in Northern Ecology, was Executive Director of the Canadian International Polar Year Secretariat, and served as President of the International Arctic Science Committee. He is a recipient of the Martin Bergmann Medal for Excellence in Arctic Leadership & Science awarded by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and the Polar Medal (Canada). He is currently Research Director of the new Canadian Mountain Network.
